Colton Hutchinson is a very poised, confident signal-caller that is also a terrific athlete for the position. He possesses adequate size and quality arm strength and while he has the look of a pocket passer, he is much more than that when it comes to making plays. Has quick feet, gets set quickly and is agile enough to avoid pressure on a consistent basis. Buys a lot of second-chance passing opportunities with his feet and is a legitimate running threat when he breaks contain.

However, he is a passer first. He shows good patience in the pocket and will go through his progression reads. Is a good ball handler. Keeps his eyes downfield when on the move and is constantly trying to find the open receiver and keep the play alive. He can throw on the run with good velocity and accuracy. Has a quick release and can beat the rush with his arm. Gets good zip on deep out throws and can fit the ball into some tight spots.
