David Helton  6' 3 3/4" 226lbs. LB/TE 2011

David Helton has few physical equals in the 2011 class. He is very symmetrically proportioned with a tall and rangy but very powerful frame.  His strength and power can be clearly seen in every phase of his game. He is excellent at filling running lanes and forcing runners to the direction he wants. He plays with a solid base and he keeps his shoulders square that allows him to take on

larger, stronger blockers with ease. He also shows good technique when it comes to getting past or shedding blockers. At 6'3 3/4" and 226 pounds, he is surprisingly quick and explosive. He has the foot speed and agility to be a very productive in coverage. He has good speed and can get to the runner fast. This translates into sideline-to-sideline ability at linebacker. His speed and agility will allow him to roam all over the field and make plays. It also means that David is a terror on the edge while he’s blitzing. He is certainly at his best when he’s attacking. In pass coverage, he should excel. He has great hips and balance so zone drops should not be an issue. His good strength and good hands, combined with his athleticism, will make him very competitive in man-to-man situations with tight ends and larger running backs.
