Just when you think Luka Ricard is out of position he makes a play in open space that is impressive. While he could be a gem at outside linebacker, his upside as a defensive end is exciting. He possesses the ideal perimeter frame with his long wingspan and height. When you blend his potential size, speed and explosiveness, he can pose serious match-up problems for offensive tackles on the run or pass. At both positions, he can create problems when offenses try to attack the outside with his range. He flashes good short-area explosion and acceleration; it is difficult to get outside leverage on him. When chasing backside, Luka displays the speed and

range to cover a lot of ground and make plays. His ability to plant and drive once he makes his read is outstanding. Possesses fluid hips in coverage and can get depth very quickly. Luka offers the rare flexibility to match up physically with tight ends. He tries to use his raw ability to outmuscle and out-quick inferior players instead of using proper technique in defeating the different array of blocks. His raw skill has allowed him to easily pass rush by offensive tackles; he needs to adapt more pass rush moves, which should come with coaching and experience playing in the trenches. His explosion and acceleration also make him a threat blitzing off the edge at his linebacker spot.
